Virtual desktops

Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, their session hosts, and Windows 365 Cloud PCs in one view. Drain a host before patching, start or deallocate the VM behind it, reboot or reprovision a Cloud PC — each action goes straight to Azure with your connected service principal and is written to the action log below, accepted or refused.

Sizing a new pool instead? Use the AVD sizing calculator.

Host pools

Azure Virtual Desktop. Drain stops new sessions on a host without touching running ones; Start, Deallocate and Restart act on the VM behind the host.

Health

Azure's own session host status, heartbeat, agent update state and health checks. Hosts that need attention come with a proposed fix — nothing runs until you apply it, and applying it goes through the same logged action endpoint as the buttons above.

Azure Compute Gallery versions and the image behind every session host. A host on an older version than its gallery's latest is flagged — re-imaging stays a deliberate, out-of-band step.

Windows 365 Cloud PCs

Read through Microsoft Graph. Reprovision wipes and rebuilds the Cloud PC; End grace period releases the licence early.

Provisioning policies

The template every Cloud PC is built from — image, join type and region. Reprovision and Restore rebuild a Cloud PC from its policy, so this is the list to check first.

Restore

Restoring rolls the Cloud PC back to the disk state of the restore point you pick. Anything written since then is lost, and the user is signed out while it runs.

Resize

Resizing moves the Cloud PC to another service plan. It restarts, and the licence cost changes with the new size.

Scaling plans

Azure's own autoscaler for AVD. The plan and its times live in Azure; what you can change here is whether a host pool is actually driven by its plan — the switch you want before patching a pool. Times are the plan's own time zone.

Power schedules

Cloud Horizons' own timer, next to Azure's autoscaler. Deallocate a pool at 19:30 and start it again at 07:30 and the hosts stop costing compute overnight. Each run is written to the action log below.

Send a message to the session

The message pops up inside the user's remote session. Nothing is disconnected.
